As at December 2005, Nigeria’s inland bloc production and development had shut down due to this socio-political unrest in the Niger Delta region.
As a result, exploration and production activities were relocated to the deep offshore waters of Nigeria’s exclusive economic zone as well as in the Joint Development Zone with Sao Tome and Principe, and elsewhere in the Gulf of Guinea.
This development led to a steep increase in the number of offshore installations; with a corresponding growth in demand for support services ranging from security, crew change and platform supply services to mentioned but a few. While a number of support service companies are looking at this segment, the technical requirements necessitate the deployment of relatively new vessels at extremely high capital costs, meaning that this lucrative segment remains a potential high growth area for a well-capitalized and managed maritime concern.
Honeybrook saw opportunities in both scenarios, the unrest scenario and the deep water scenario. In tackling the unrest scenario, HoneyBrook discussed with ship yards in Singapore and ordered the full bullet proof (ballistic Protection) Fast Crew Vessels which is the niche for its crew vessels. HoneyBrook also partnered with ship yards and vessel owners across the globe to solve our deep water operation issues by providing state of the art offshore support services and now has in her fleet DP2 Platform Support Vessel (PSV); Several tonnage sizes of Anchor Handling & Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS); Pipe laying Vessels, Construction Vessels among others.
We are the place to source your vessel needs in Nigeria and Africa, whatever type of vessel we will source for you in the best terms and conditions.
